Animation

I am new to stop-motion animation and have no idea on how to do it but being in a group with Russell Pointer makes it easier to understand. He has done a lot of stop-motion animation before and believes that we should make our final year film in stop-motion but also add CG elements to it.

Here are a few images showing our filming setup at Ravensbourne

This is my very first stop-motion animation i have ever done and at first i thought it was great but now when i see it i can see a lot of mistakes. Now i know what to do and what i did wrong in these test i know when i come down to actually doing the animation for the final film it will look professional.

Here are some photos of my group animating at Ravensbourne collecting animation tests.

This image shows Gary Ralphs animating who left the group to work on his own project

This image shows Russell Pointer animating, Russell is also the team leader and director.

Here are some images of me animating at Ravensbourne

Equipment used:

Elephant Model
Green screen paper

This image shows me using Dragon stop motion software checking my animation.

This image shows me adjusting the elephants trunk for the next frame in the animation.

This image shows me taking a picture of the current frame.

These videos show two of my new animation i have completed.

For some reason the videos are playing a lot faster than they should be error coming out of after effects but in the final film they will be slowed down to the right speed.

Monkey swinging down from trees.

Elephant putting cigarette in his mouth.

This video is my before and after animations from the tests to the final composited shots. I am very pleased with my animation results as it was my first time doing stop-motion animation and mixing live action with CG environment the look of the 3d models in Maya had to work with the real world clay model.

Here are the finished three episodes:
